Full-Time Maintenance Technician

 

 

Newport News community looking for an energetic individual to join our team. Permanent position, make townhomes ready, and work orders. Must be on rotation call have own tools and transportation.

5 years’ experience required.

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Property Maintenance Technician to join our townhome community maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in residential property maintenance and be capable of independently diagnosing and completing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks.

This position is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, functionality, and overall condition of townhome properties and common areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance throughout townhome units and common areas.
  • Diagnose and repair plumbing issues, including faucets, toilets, drains, water heaters, and minor leaks.
  • Perform basic electrical repairs, including outlets, switches, fixtures, and troubleshooting.
  • Repair and maintain doors, locks, windows, cabinets, drywall, flooring, and other interior components.
  • Complete painting, caulking, patching, and general carpentry repairs.
  • Perform HVAC-related maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
  • Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests and emergency calls.
  • Prepare vacant townhomes for new residents, including repairs, touch-ups, cleaning coordination, and general make-ready work.
  • Conduct property inspections and identify safety, maintenance, and preventative repair needs.
  • Maintain exterior areas, including minor fence, gate, siding, landscaping-related, and common-area repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and applicable building codes.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional property maintenance, apartment maintenance, residential maintenance, or related experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Reliable attendance and a professional attitude.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift, carry, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance duties.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
