Overview

Red Coats, Inc., a commercial cleaning service provider, is seeking a Controller for its headquarters in Bethesda, MD. This position will work closely with the VP of Finance and will assist in developing, establishing, and enforcing proper accounting methods and policies for all accounting employees.  The Controller is responsible for all employees of the department and is responsible for leadership, performance management, and hiring of the employees within the department. Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the VP of Finance to manage, schedule, and oversee daily operations of all accounting departments and functions.
  • Work closely with staff to ensure proper accounting methods and policies are practiced and the department meets all deadlines.
  • Work with HR to find qualified staff.
  • Provide staff training as needed.
  • Continually review accounting policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Manage projects using defined project management tools and communication vehicles.
  • Develop individuals for future advancement.
  • Evaluate business processes.
  • Comply with state and federal tax requirements for payroll and sales and use taxes.
  • Prepare various management reports and assist in budgeting.
  • Selecting and implementing new accounting software
  • Support month-end, quarterly and year-end reporting

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate management and a substantial track record as a Controller.
  • BS degree or higher in Accounting or Finance and CPA required.
  • Must be able to work and interact with all levels of staff management, including with other departments.
  • Expert level knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to make timely decisions and adapt to change.
  • Excellent accounting software user with great communication skills
